Bearded tit

The Bearded tit or Bearded reedling (Panurus biarmicus) is actually not a tit, but the only European member of the babbler family.

They are hard bird for a photographer to get near to, so – in the interests of honesty – I should mention that all but one of these pictures were taken in the large free-flying aviary at Pensthorpe in Norfolk, and are almost all at 800 ISO.

It’s probably obvious which one was taken “in the wild” at Salthouse!
