Cormorant
The Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) is a member of an ancient order of birds which make their living as fish-eaters.
Unlike most aquatic birds, cormorants do not have totally waterproof feathers. This means that they’re particularly efficient underwater because their feathers take up water, counteracting the bird’s natural bouyancy: but it also means that they have to “haul out” periodically to dry off in the sun.
