Pheasant
The Pheasant (Phasanius colchicus) is a mainly Chinese species, introduced into Europe for food and sport in medieval times (and possibly before that).
It’s a shame for them that they taste so good – the male is a spectacular-looking bird.
This one though, is a chick that decided to keep me company during a visit to Washington WWT in 2006.
