Purple sandpiper

The Purple Sandpiper (Calidris maritima) is a typical sandpiper, to be found on rocky coastal areas, often in the company of turnstones.

A very dapper little bird, and one I’m always glad to see. Not a particularly common bird, it’s another one that will give the photographer every chance by coming very close if not scared away.
