Reports

Good – or bad – days with the camera, holiday trips and other things of a bloggy nature.

I am not a twitcher, but..!

Posted on 2 January 2012, 18:42 in

A long-staying Desert wheatear just up the coast finally became too much of a temptation.

Does anyone else do this?

Posted on 6 November 2011, 18:39 in

Does anyone else go out, get some perfectly good images, and then do nothing with them? I’ve got thousands of the buggers!

Another trip to E. Yorks

The Farnes again...

Posted on 19 July 2011, 22:15 in

At last, another posting – this time from a trip to the Farne Islands.

My name is Keith and I am a waderholic..!

Posted on 31 January 2011, 19:42 in

I once told someone (back in the days before dogs outnumbered birds on my local beaches) that I was a bit bored with waders. In fact I’ve realised that few things make me happier than lying on a quiet beach with a few wading birds in front of me.

Usual Suspects, and something you don't see every day

Posted on 2 January 2011, 19:39 in

A trip to Amble with my buddy Mark – Godawful light, but interesting anyway.

From the bottom of my street

Posted on 17 October 2010, 19:50 in

I live on a long street, but – technically – the River Blyth is at the bottom of it.

A little fall at St Mary's

Posted on 10 October 2010, 20:43 in

I’ve long hoped for a repeat of the fall of Goldcrest that introduced me to bird photography back in 2005. Well, that’s just what happened today.

East Yorkshire

Posted on 6 September 2010, 22:05 in

East Yorkshire has made a good impression – and it’s much easier to get to than North Norfolk!

Amble

Posted on 24 July 2010, 20:24 in

A new PC, a change of workflow and precious few birds to photograph have meant that I haven’t posted much recently, so this short trip up to Amble was very welcome.

Stonechats! Part Deux

Posted on 5 June 2010, 18:12 in

Another trip up the coast to Cresswell – and this time the Sun was out.

Stonechats!

Posted on 15 May 2010, 20:07 in

A trip to Cresswell and some Stonechats that wanted their pictures taken!

A funny sort of day...

Posted on 12 April 2010, 20:34 in

Things didn’t go to plan today – I need more Fulmar practice!

Hartlepool

Posted on 8 March 2010, 20:28 in

Hartlepool headland is a well-known birding site, but I had no idea what it would be like for photography. Pretty good, as it turns out.

Catching up...

Turnstones, St Marys

Posted on 27 January 2010, 17:41 in

I’m getting the hang of the 7D, and was lucky enough to have the beach to myself (and the Turnstones) for a while.

7D odds and sods

Posted on 25 January 2010, 00:40 in

The Winter’s a bad time to buy a new camera – no light to test it in!

Posted on 28 December 2009, 20:37 in

Out and about today – a new venue and a new camera .

A productive couple of hours at St Mary's

Posted on 11 December 2009, 19:55 in

Sometimes a couple of hours is all you need.

OK, it was better than being at work, but not really a day to remember.

Washington Wildfowl Trust

Marden Quarry - and Bibble 5

Posted on 20 September 2009, 20:48 in

I might have found a new favourite RAW converter in Bibble 5.

Usual Suspects - not such a bad thing, really...

Posted on 10 September 2009, 17:32 in

Sometimes there are only common birds around – it can be a fun challenge to make the most of such situations

St Mary's - a pleasant surprise

Posted on 12 August 2009, 19:06 in

It just goes to show that even when you think you know what the day will have in store, a surprise is always possible.

So that’s what £4m gets you…

Silverlink NR and Blyth Dunes

Posted on 21 July 2009, 21:50 in

A local nature reserve that’s actually worthy of the name, and a very obliging Stonechat on my local beach.

The Farnes

Posted on 20 June 2009, 22:43 in

At long last I make it to the Farnes.

The best of a bad job

Posted on 3 June 2009, 20:50 in

Posted on 22 May 2009, 17:57 in

A trip up the coast to Druridge – another one that didn’t go quite to plan.

Something to crow about...

Posted on 20 May 2009, 16:49 in

The beach at St Mary’s – no waders, and no light…

St Mary's again

Posted on 9 May 2009, 12:17 in

Sore foot, stupid dogs, stupider owners, shouting, swearing, sun, sand, Swallows and Sanderlings!

A bad day...

Posted on 3 May 2009, 10:45 in

A day that went from really promising to really painful in just one step…

Tynemouth

Posted on 19 April 2009, 22:01 in

What’s a nice gull like you doing on a page like this?

Misty St Mary's

Posted on 3 April 2009, 20:46 in

St Mary’s again – the birds were obliging, but the misty weather kept me on my toes…

Marden Quarry

Posted on 29 March 2009, 18:41 in

Marden Quarry in Whitley Bay (NE England) is a pleasant place to while away a few hours.

St Mary's and Hartley

Posted on 21 March 2009, 14:41 in

The usual suspects at my usual local haunts.

Thropton and Caistron

Posted on 20 March 2009, 14:33 in

A day in North Northumberland – the River Coquet and Caistron Nature Reserve.

Bird Forum Bash

Posted on 16 December 2007, 18:27 in

Along with a handful of other brave souls, I braved sub-zero temperatures – and no birds – on the annual Bird Forum Kite Bash

Windy day at the beach

Posted on 9 December 2007, 19:52 in

Another look at my local beach – on a very breezy day.

A day at the harbour

Posted on 11 November 2007, 23:05 in

A good day at the harbour today – some good birds and some good “crack”.
