The best of a bad job

Posted on 3 June 2009, 20:50

I had the chance to drop into St Marys after work tonight.

Truth be known, there was very little about: no waders anywhere; the terns were too far off; and it was too windy for LBJs.

There were however a few Rooks, coaxed within camera range by the generosity of an elderly couple who helped me out by feeding the birds chips!

Some of the images I got have a kind of “glossy” look I don’t really care for, a look which seems to kill fine detail – a function of the light being quite harsh at times (see the last image for example) – but the first of these has a certain something, and is probably my favourite Rook image so far.

For what that accolade is worth!

So not much to show for the visit, but – as with angling – you’ll never get anything sitting in the house..!

These are all close to full frame, with just a little “cosmetic” cropping as required.

What do you think?
